From your own point of view it useful to say sorry after years of wrong policies towards a minority? Why, What else is needed?
First of all the situation was very complicated just to say sorry after many years, destroy families jus t because they were thinking for “better opportunities” for those kids, as we could see in the movie. Kids became orphans with imposed rules, education and religion that they didn’t know. For the aborigines they were not doing anything wrong so there was no reason at all for taking their children.
As just saying one word could make up for all the harm the “white australian” caused, the first thing to do would be to try to unify families with the information they could have, it is not a possible solution for everyone the effort can be made to try to reunite possible families all over Australia; besides that some economic compensation should be made for those people who were separated even though they can’t undo the things they did, at least they would acknowledge the bad thing they did, an also recognize as a mistake all those policies for half caste children as they weren’t doing anything wrong, as we can see is not an easy thing to do to heal all the wounds caused by incorrect policies that were aimed to discriminated people and made their lives really hard.
